Kent State Tuscarawas opened strong but couldn't hold off a second-half surge, falling to Cincinnati-Clermont 71–63 on February 7 at Founders Hall Gym.
The Golden Eagles came out with energy and control, setting the tone early. Kent State Tuscarawas dominated the first half, building a 31–14 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 45–19 by halftime behind balanced scoring and strong defensive pressure. The early advantage gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about as the team executed well on both ends of the floor.
However, the momentum shifted after the break. Cincinnati-Clermont erupted for 26 points in both the third and fourth quarters, using aggressive offense and second-chance opportunities to chip away at the lead and eventually take control late in the game.
Kadence Stutz led Kent State Tuscarawas with 20 points on an efficient 8-of-14 shooting performance, adding six assists. Mallory Stutzman contributed 15 points and five assists, while Abbey Parker recorded a strong all-around effort with 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Anaiyah General provided a spark off the bench with 6 points, and Lily Specht added 5.
Despite solid ball movement that resulted in 22 team assists and a strong rebounding effort, Kent State Tuscarawas struggled from beyond the arc and the free-throw line, shooting 20% from three-point range and 63.6% from the stripe.
Cincinnati-Clermont was led by Tamira Scott and McKaila Hatton, who each scored 27 points. Hatton connected on eight three-pointers, helping fuel the second-half comeback. Lucy Rosen added 13 points and 12 rebounds to support the offensive push.
After controlling the first half, Kent State Tuscarawas was outscored 52–18 in the final two quarters, allowing Cincinnati-Clermont to complete the comeback and secure the 71–63 win.
