Kent State WBB Gets Win Over #3 Miami Hamilton

Kent State–Tuscarawas held on for a 74–71 victory over No. 3 Miami–Hamilton on Friday night, January 16, behind balanced scoring and clutch free-throw shooting.

The Golden Eagles built momentum early, taking a 42–29 halftime lead after strong first- and second-quarter play. Zoey Steele and Mallory Stutzman paced the offense, combining for 47 points, while Abbey Parker controlled the paint on the glass.

Miami–Hamilton, ranked third, mounted a comeback after halftime, outscoring Kent State–Tuscarawas 17–9 in the third quarter and adding 25 points in the fourth to pull within striking distance. However, the Golden Eagles responded down the stretch with timely baskets and steady play at the free-throw line.

Steele led all scorers with 25 points and seven assists, while Stutzman added 22 points, knocking down four three-pointers and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. Off the bench, Tamarra Thomas provided a key spark, finishing with 15 points, eight assists, and four steals. Parker anchored the defense with 14 rebounds.

Kent State–Tuscarawas finished the game shooting 84.2 percent from the free-throw line, a decisive factor in the close contest, as they secured the three-point win at home over one of the conference's top teams.
