Golden Eagles WBB Split Holiday Classic

Game 1:

The Kent State–Tuscarawas Golden Eagles opened play at the Holiday Christmas Classic vs CCBC on December 12, 2025, with a 76–62 loss in a physical, competitive matchup. Despite the result, the Golden Eagles showed effort on the defensive end and fought throughout the game, creating pressure and forcing turnovers, with a rough 4th quarter that was tough to overcome.

Nevaeh Harrison led Kent State with 10 points while contributing across the board with six rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Mallory Stutzman was a key offensive threat, finishing with a team-high 15 points and knocking down three three-pointers. Abbey Parker anchored the interior for the Golden Eagles, pulling down an impressive 21 rebounds to go along with her defensive presence in the paint. Tamarra Thomas provided a spark off the bench, scoring 11 points and recording five steals.

Kent State struggled to find consistent offensive rhythm, shooting 35.3% from the field and 28.0% from beyond the arc, while turnovers and rebounding challenges limited scoring opportunities. Still, the Golden Eagles competed with intensity and gained valuable experience as they continued play in the Holiday Christmas Classic with the next game being the next day vs Miami Middletown.

 

Game 2:

In Game 2 of the Holiday Classic at Kent State–Tuscarawas on December 13, 2025, the Golden Eagles put together an impressive performance, defeating Miami-Middletown 91–55. Kent State controlled the game from start to finish with balanced scoring, strong ball movement, and aggressive defense.

Player of the Game Danajia Woodard delivered a standout performance, leading all scorers with 24 points on an efficient 11-for-20 shooting night. Woodard also added eight rebounds and provided a steady offensive presence that helped the Golden Eagles build and maintain a commanding lead.

Tamarra Thomas chipped in 13 points and three steals, while Abbey Parker recorded a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, anchoring the paint on both ends. Nevaeh Harrison contributed six points and a team-high seven assists, helping orchestrate the offense. Off the bench, Katherine Jackson and Mallory Stutzman each added 11 points, giving Kent State valuable scoring depth.

The Golden Eagles shot 39.3% from the field and outrebounded Miami-Middletown 48–29, while also totaling 23 assists on 35 made baskets. Their defensive effort forced turnovers and limited scoring opportunities, allowing Kent State–Tuscarawas to secure a dominant win and finish the Holiday Classic on a high note.
