Kent State University at Tuscarawas delivered a dominant performance Tuesday, shutting out Penn State Fayette 8–0, powered by a massive six-run fourth inning.
Tuscarawas set the tone early, getting on the board in the first inning when Lemmel executed a sacrifice bunt to bring in the game's first run. They added another in the third after Kliffel ripped a single down the right field line.
The game broke wide open in the fourth. Yoder sparked the rally with a two-run single, Reyes followed with an RBI triple, and Kliffel and Lovelace each added run-scoring singles—Lovelace driving in two—to cap off the explosive inning.
On the mound, Lemmel was outstanding, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just four hits, striking out nine, and walking one to earn the win. Bergman took the loss for Penn State Fayette after giving up one run in the opening inning.
At the plate, Lovelace led the charge with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, while Reyes chipped in two hits in two at-bats.
