Aaron O’Brien brings a diverse background in player development, event management, and competitive softball to Kent State Tuscarawas.

A dedicated coach and mentor, O’Brien has built his reputation through hands-on experience at both the travel and collegiate levels.

O’Brien spent 2017–2023 coaching and developing athletes within the travel softball community while operating Starz Softball, a competitive program based in Dover. During this time, he focused on skill development, team culture, and preparing athletes for the next level of competition.

Since 2024, O’Brien has served as the Director of Player Development for Lady Rebels Softball, where he oversees athlete progression, training structure, and long-term development pathways. His role emphasizes building complete players through fundamentals, leadership, and advanced game knowledge.

In addition to coaching, O’Brien is the founder of Uncle Charlie’s Tournaments (2017–Present), where he organizes and operates high-level tournaments, showcases, and college exposure camps across multiple states. His events provide athletes with opportunities to compete at a high level while gaining valuable recruiting exposure and connecting with college programs nationwide.

O’Brien’s collegiate coaching experience includes time at Hocking College from 2024–2025, where he contributed to player development and program growth at the junior college level. This experience further strengthened his ability to mentor student-athletes and navigate the recruiting process.
