Dover, OH-
The second round of the Gatorade Collegiate proved to much better, just like the weather, for the Golden Eagles Men's Golf Team who improved on their first-round aggregate team score by 11 strokes. KSU Tusc finished the final round of the College of Wooster hosted event with a team score of 335 for a two day total of 681.
This day belonged to sophomore, Cole Eltringham who converted on 11 pars and a birdie for a 39/39/78 to lead the Eagles. Eltringham made par on the first four holes on both the outward and inward nines, while also making a 15-foot downhill birdie putt on the par four 17th hole. His two-day total was 82/78/160.
Freshman, Austen Gunn, who led with a 78 on the first day, matched Eltringham's tournament total by shooting 78/82/160. He made eight pars on the final day even after aggravating a wrist injury hitting his ball from a tree root filled lie.
Improving his first-round score by 10 strokes was freshman Connor Rippeth, who recorded eight pars and an eagle in the final round to finish with an 84. He eagled the 511-yard second hole of the day and finished with a today score of 94/84/178.
Fellow frosh Drew Gallant was better by six strokes on his opening round with five pars and finished with a two-day total of 92/91/183.
The Eagles have a pair of tournaments next Saturday and Sunday, when they travel to Tanglewood Golf Club in Chagrin Falls for a tri match with Hiram College and Baldwin Wallace, followed by the Penn State DuBois Invitational in DuBois, PA.
Connor Rippeth gets to the root of the problem and bettered his first round score by 10 strokes at Zoar.
