Golden Eagles golfer Nick Reeder was honored as a Second Team All-American after the completion of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Golf Championships on Tuesday. He is the fourth golfer and ninth KSU Tuscarawas athlete to earn All-American status in five years of membership in the USCAA.
Reeder opened play with a round of 37/37/74 to finish tied for sixth as an individual on Penn State University's Blue Course in State College, PA on Monday. He followed that with a final round 40/40/80 in much tougher conditions and amassed three birdies and 20 pars to tie for fourteenth in the individual standings.
The lanky sophomore from Richwood, OH and a graduate of North Union High School, has been on fire late in the fall season. He finished as medalist in two straight tournaments with matching scores of 78 in the Golden Eagle and PSU Greater Allegheny invitationals. He also shot a 75 at the Westminster Titan Invitational and placed third overall. For his efforts, Reeder was named USCAA National Golfer Of-The-Week on September 21, 2021. His final season average was 78.66 for 18-holes.
Freshman golfer Austin Brooks from Warren, OH and a graduate of Lakeview High School, was tabbed as a USCAA Academic All-American for maintaining a 3.97 overall GPA at Kent State University. Brooks plays the four-spot on the golf team and is completing a BBA in Management and Information Systems.
