Rajhan "AJ" Ramgeet has built an impressive high school career defined by excellence in the classroom, dominance on the basketball court, and dedication to his community. A standout student-athlete from Lisbon High School, Ramgeet will continue his academic and athletic journey at Kent State Tuscarawas as a member of the basketball program.
Throughout his four years at Lisbon, Ramgeet consistently achieved academic success. He earned Honor Roll recognition during his freshman, sophomore, and junior years while becoming a member of the National Honor Society as a junior and senior. During his senior year, he capped off his academic career with an outstanding All A's performance.
On the basketball court, Ramgeet developed into one of the most accomplished players in Lisbon High School history. After earning First Team OVAC honors as a sophomore, he elevated his game to another level during his junior and senior seasons. His junior year accolades included First Team EOAC, First Team Columbiana County, Second Team All Inland District, Honorable Mention All-Ohio, and membership in the prestigious 1,000 Point Club.
As a senior, Ramgeet cemented his legacy with one of the most decorated seasons ever by a Lisbon player. He earned First Team EOAC, First Team OVAC, First Team Columbiana County, and First Team Inland District honors while also being named EOAC Co-Player of the Year and Second Team All-Ohio. He finished his career with 1,592 points — the most in Lisbon High School history — while also setting school records for 298 career free throws made and 221 field goals made in a single season. Defensively, his toughness stood out as he recorded 13 charges taken, the most in OVAC 2A Class.
Beyond academics and athletics, Ramgeet has remained deeply involved in his community. He served as a youth basketball coach assistant for several years through Game Changers Athletic Club, worked as a camp counselor for Lisbon, became an AAU head coach for an Ohio Lakers 8th grade team, and also contributed as a youth referee. His leadership and passion for mentoring younger athletes have made a lasting impact both on and off the court.
"AJ is the kind of player every coach wants in their program," said Richard Tharp. "He's a proven winner, an outstanding student, and an even better person. His work ethic, leadership, and love for the game will make an immediate impact at Kent State Tuscarawas, and we're excited to welcome him to our family."
