Churn Commits to Kent State Tuscarawas Mens Basketball

The Golden Eagles of Kent State University at Tuscarawas are proud to announce the signing of EJ Churn from Kent Roosevelt High School to the men's basketball program.

Churn brings a strong combination of academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement to KSU Tuscarawas. In the classroom, he has maintained an impressive 3.8 GPA and earned recognition as a Suburban League Scholar Athlete, demonstrating his commitment to success both on and off the court.

A four-year member of the Kent Roosevelt basketball program, Churn's dedication and work ethic have been evident throughout his high school career. He was named Team Captain and received the Team "Investment" Award, highlighting his leadership and commitment to the program. As a junior, he earned the Most Improved Player Award, a testament to the time and effort he has put into developing his game.

Churn also earned individual recognition as a Portage Sports – Jack Kohl Realty Player of the Game and was selected to the Portage Sports 15th Annual "All-Glue Guy Team," an honor given to players who do the little things that impact winning — from defense and hustle plays to leadership and toughness.

Beyond basketball, Churn has been deeply involved in his community. He has volunteered with the Kent Youth Basketball Association Camp, Kent Social Services "Holiday Packing," Kent's Historic South End Community Garden, the Rod Moxley "Moxx Basketball 101" Clinic, Individuals with Disabilities Unified Sports as a volunteer referee, and the Portage Metropolitan Housing Authority Youth Mini Camp. His willingness to give back reflects the character and values he will bring to the Golden Eagles program.
