Kent State Tuscarawas Falls On Road To Beaver

Kent State–Tuscarawas turned in a strong, resilient effort despite a narrow 71–68 road loss to Penn State Beaver on January 28.

After trailing 35–29 at halftime, the Golden Eagles came out aggressive in the second half, scoring 39 points and cutting the deficit to a single possession late. Garrett Sprutte led the way with a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 13 rebounds while controlling the paint and grabbing four offensive boards. Ethan Bower provided a major spark from the perimeter, knocking down five three-pointers and scoring 17 points on an efficient 6-of-11 shooting night.

Kent State–Tuscarawas shot 39.1 percent from the field and 26.9 percent from three-point range, while being perfect at the free-throw line by converting all 11 attempts. The Golden Eagles also held a slight edge on the glass, outrebounding Penn State Beaver 35–26, including 11 offensive rebounds that created valuable second-chance opportunities. Defensively, the Golden Eagles were disruptive, recording nine steals and forcing Penn State Beaver into difficult possessions. Blaine Raber filled up the stat sheet with five assists and four steals, while the Golden Eagles totaled 10 assists as a team.

Kent State–Tuscarawas received solid bench production as well, with Jaedyn McLeod scoring six points and Jerry Arrington adding six points and eight rebounds off the bench. Although 14 turnovers proved costly in a tightly contested game, the Golden Eagles' balanced scoring, defensive intensity, and second-half surge highlighted a competitive road performance.

The Golden Eagles are set to travel to Miami Hamilton on 1/31/26 at 3:00 PM to take on one of the top teams in the USCAA.
