Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2024 Lake Center Christian High School senior to their men's basketball team.
On Wednesday, Tanner Norman signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.
Norman, primarily shooting guard was a three-year letter winner for the Tigers who play in the Portage Trail Conference (PTC) in the Northeast District of the OHSAA. He was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-Ohioan as a junior and senior and averaged 15.5 ppg, 4.5 assists per game, 2.5 steals per game and 4 rebounds per game in his final season. He also garnered First Team All-District 4 and Second Team All-Northeast Inland District in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, and at the same time, was recognized as a member of Second Team All-PTC teams.
Academically, Norman has earned 22 hours of college credits through the CCP Program and carries a 3.31 cumulative GPA. He is a Scholar Athlete and has a 3.97 GPA as a senior.
His community service and extracurricular activities include volunteering as a youth sports staff member at the Lake YMCA, Hospitality Team at First Christian Church, packing food boxes at LCCHS, caddying at Congress Lake Country Club, LCCHS Youth Basketball coach and as a member of the golf league at Roses Run Golf Course.
He will pursue a degree in business management at Kent State Tuscarawas and hopes to earn his PGA card to become a golf professional after completing his baccalaureate.
"Tanner brings a very good understanding of the game and what it takes to be successful," said KSU Tuscarawas Head Men's Basketball Coach Richard Tharp. " From the classroom to his community involvement and his on-court performance, he's demonstrated leadership in a way that has set himself apart from the others. We believe the sky is the limit in terms of his basketball growth because he is coachable and has a solid work ethic and is determined to be his best self."
