KSU Tusc Baseball Splits with Bryant and Stratton Syracuse

Game 1:

Kent State University at Tuscarawas (KSUT Eagles) battled hard throughout Friday's matchup but came up just short in a 5–3 loss to Bryant & Stratton College - Syracuse after a late-game surge.

KSUT set the tone early, jumping on the scoreboard in the second inning. Maine delivered an RBI single to give the Eagles the lead, and the offense continued to apply pressure with aggressive baserunning, swiping five bases in the game.

The Eagles held a 3–1 advantage into the fifth inning, showcasing strong pitching and timely hitting. However, Bryant & Stratton College - Syracuse turned the game around in the bottom of the fifth. A home run by Webster narrowed the gap before Martinez-Disla delivered the final blow—a grand slam to center field that shifted momentum and gave Syracuse a 5–3 lead they would not relinquish.

Despite the setback, KSUT had solid individual performances. Schofield, Campbell, Maine, and Larson each recorded a hit, while Campbell and Maine drove in runs. Castillo was impressive on the mound, striking out nine over six innings while allowing just one earned run.

KSUT stayed competitive until the final out, showing resilience and speed on the bases, but the fifth-inning rally proved to be the difference.

Game 2:

Kent State University at Tuscarawas (KSUT Eagles) delivered a dramatic comeback victory on Friday, erupting late to defeat Bryant & Stratton College - Syracuse 12–5.

KSUT found themselves in an early battle, getting on the board in the first inning after Larson drew a walk to force in a run. The game remained tight early, but Bryant & Stratton used a solo home run from Berroa and another from Mella to take a 4–1 lead, later extending it to 5–1 in the fifth.

Facing that deficit, the Eagles showed resilience—and then completely flipped the game in the seventh inning. KSUT exploded for 11 runs on five hits in a stunning offensive outburst. The inning was highlighted by clutch power hitting, including a grand slam from Maine and another grand slam from Larson, turning a four-run deficit into a commanding 12–5 lead.

Maine led the charge with four RBIs on two hits, while the offense as a whole displayed exceptional patience at the plate, drawing 12 walks. Salgado set the tone with three walks and added speed on the bases, swiping two bags as KSUT totaled three stolen bases.

On the mound, Foltz was dominant in relief, striking out nine over four and two-thirds innings while allowing just one run. Starter Kent kept the Eagles within reach early, and the pitching staff combined to shut down Bryant & Stratton after the fifth inning.
