Kent State Tuscarawas put up a strong fight but came up short in a 6–4 loss to Franciscan on Thursday.
After falling behind in the second inning—when Franciscan capitalized on an error and an RBI single—KSUT stayed composed and worked their way back into the game. The Eagles showed resilience in the top of the sixth, tying the score thanks to patience at the plate with a hit-by-pitch and a clutch single from Larson.
The game remained tight, but Franciscan regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning, taking advantage of another error before adding an insurance run on a double.
Despite the loss, KSUT had notable performances. Larson led the offensive effort, driving in two runs and consistently putting pressure on the defense. Castillo delivered a solid outing on the mound, pitching six innings and keeping the Eagles within reach by limiting earned damage.

Kent State Tuscarawas powered past Franciscan with an impressive 17–8 win on Thursday Night, fueled by a standout performance from Schofield.
Schofield led the Eagles' offense, driving in four runs on three hits. He delivered RBI singles in both the third and fourth innings and also drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in another run, consistently coming through in key moments.
After falling behind early in the first inning, KSUT responded in a big way. The Eagles erupted in the third inning, reclaiming the lead with a combination of timely hitting and exceptional plate discipline. Schofield's RBI single sparked the rally, and the lineup followed with relentless pressure—drawing multiple walks and forcing runs across to break the game open.
KSUT showed patience all game long, finishing with 14 walks and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Maine added a strong performance at the plate, collecting two hits in three at-bats, while several players—including Schofield, Maine, Ashcraft, Larson, and Walter—each recorded two walks.
On the mound, Billman earned the win, pitching five solid innings with five strikeouts. Baker set the tone early, allowing just one earned run over two innings while striking out two.
