The Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles delivered a strong all-around performance Thursday, securing an 8–5 victory over the Lorain County Community College Commodores in a game defined by timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and solid pitching.
Kent State Tuscarawas found themselves battling early but responded in the bottom of the third inning. A sacrifice fly by Salgado helped spark the offense, followed by a game-tying home run to right field from Schofield that shifted momentum in favor of the Golden Eagles.
The Eagles continued to capitalize in the fourth inning, taking the lead after the Commodores committed a costly error. That miscue, combined with a wild pitch that allowed another run to cross the plate, gave Kent State Tuscarawas breathing room they would not relinquish.
In the fifth inning, Bohanon delivered one of the most electrifying plays of the game—an inside-the-park home run on a 3-0 count—driving in two runs and extending the Eagles' lead. His performance, paired with Schofield's earlier contributions, provided a powerful offensive one-two punch, as both players finished with two RBIs.
On the mound, Dray earned the win with an efficient outing, allowing just two hits and one run (unearned) over three and two-thirds innings while striking out five without issuing a walk. Foltz added a strong relief appearance, tossing three innings and giving up only one run on two hits with four strikeouts. Quinby started the game and battled through early control issues, allowing three runs while striking out three.
Schofield, Patchett, and Larson each recorded two hits, while Salgado led the team in patience with two walks. As a unit, Kent State Tuscarawas drew seven walks, consistently pressuring the Commodores' pitching staff. The Eagles also wreaked havoc on the basepaths, tallying four stolen bases.
Defensively, Kent State Tuscarawas was flawless, committing no errors and backing up their pitching staff with clean, reliable play in the field.
