KSUT Golden Eagles Split Doubleheader With Penn State Shenango

KSUT Eagles earned a split on Tuesday against Penn State Shenango, delivering a dramatic 4-3 walk-off win in game one before falling 8-4 in the nightcap.

The opener provided all the excitement, as KSUT battled back late to secure the win. Tied at three in the bottom of the sixthteenth inning, Salgado came through in the clutch with a walk-off single to seal the victory.

KSUT got on the board early in the first inning when Bohanon lifted a sacrifice fly to bring in a run. After Penn State Shenango tied things up in the sixth on hits from Guarnieri and Bachman, they briefly took a 3-2 lead later in the inning on a groundout by Divens.

The Eagles responded immediately in the bottom half, regaining the lead after Maine was hit by a pitch and Salgado delivered again with an RBI single.

KSUT's offense was fueled by strong production throughout the lineup, collecting 12 hits in the game. Schofield and Salgado each had three hits, while Schofield, Maine, Salgado, and Bohanon each drove in a run. Campbell added two hits, and the Eagles showed patience at the plate with 11 walks.

On the mound, Quinby started and struck out seven over five and two-thirds innings. Billman was dominant in relief, tossing six and one-third scoreless innings to earn the win.

In game two, KSUT jumped ahead in the fourth inning after Cronin doubled and Schofield followed with a two-run single to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead.

Penn State Shenango answered quickly, tying the game in the fifth before taking control in the sixth. Walker's two-run home run and a two-run double from Micaletti helped Shenango pull away for the 8-4 victory.

Cronin led KSUT with two RBIs, while Ashcraft went 2-for-3 and added two stolen bases.

Despite the loss in the second game, KSUT's walk-off win in the opener highlighted a resilient day as the Eagles split the doubleheader.
