Golden Eagles Complete Four-Game Sweep of Penn State Fayette

The Kent State Tuscarawas Eagles continued their strong weekend, sweeping another doubleheader against Penn State Fayette on Sunday with an 8-1 win in game one and a 6-5 victory in game two, completing a four-game sweep of the series.

In the opener, Castillo dominated on the mound, striking out 10 batters while allowing just one run on three hits over six innings to earn the win. The Eagles jumped out early in the first inning as Larson doubledPatchett singled, and Monnard walked, each driving in a run.

Kent State Tuscarawas added two more runs in the second after Schofield tripled and a Penn State Fayette error brought in another run. Bohanon added insurance in the sixth inning with a two-run home run to center field.

The Eagles finished with 10 hits, led by Larson, who went 3-for-4 at the plate. Ruhter and Patchett each added multiple hits, while the Eagles were aggressive on the bases with seven stolen bases.

Game two proved to be much tighter. The Eagles built an early lead but had to rally late after Penn State Fayette took a 5-4 lead in the sixth inning. In the bottom half, Bohanon delivered again, blasting a two-run home run to left field to put the Eagles back in front for good.

Kent earned the win after striking out seven over six innings, while Billman closed the game to collect the save.

Bohanon led the Eagles offensively with three RBIs, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Kent State Tuscarawas also stayed aggressive on the base paths with five stolen bases, including two from Campbell.
