Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Defeats Geneva On Back Of Clutch Display From Caleb Campbell

Caleb Campbell drove in five runs on three hits to lead Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles past Geneva 19-12 on Wednesday. Campbell doubled in the fifth scoring two, singled in the sixth scoring two, and singled in the third scoring one.

 

Bats blistered as Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles collected 14 hits and Geneva tallied 15 in the high-scoring game.

 

Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Jeremy Patchett drew a walk, scoring one run, Caleb Salgado drew a walk, scoring one run, Brenton Billman doubled, scoring two runs, and Donovan Tucker singled, scoring one run.

 

Geneva flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Twigg that drove in two.

 

Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles jumped into the lead in the top of the third when Campbell singled, scoring one run, and Alex Biars homered to left field, scoring three runs.

 

Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. Billman hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Dakota Foltz drew a walk, scoring one run, Tanner Norman drew a walk, scoring one run, and Campbell doubled, scoring two runs.

Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Stymied By Geneva

Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles couldn't keep up with Geneva and fell 14-4 on Wednesday.

 

Geneva opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. Geneva first got on the board when Twigg singled, scoring one run.

 

Geneva added one run in the third after Gonzalaz hit a sacrifice fly.

 

Geneva scored six runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Twigg drew a walk, scoring one run, Lamaisky singled, scoring two runs, and Obrian singled, scoring three runs.

 

Barratt earned the win for Geneva. The pitcher gave up three hits and three runs over six and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four. Matt Jesse led things off on the hill for Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking four.

 

Andrew Powell went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Alex Biars led Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles with two hits in four at bats. Kent State University Tuscarawas Golden Eagles turned one double play in the game.

 

Geneva amassed nine hits in the game. Lamaisky led Geneva with three hits in four at bats. Gonzalaz and Twigg each drove in three runs for Geneva. #6 collected two hits for Geneva in four at bats.
