Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2020 Tallmadge High School graduate to their baseball team. On December 8, 2020, Tyler Randles signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.
Randles played two seasons for the Blue Devils baseball team. He also played for the Ohio Wildcat 18U baseball team for five years and was selected as a team captain. While he kept the opponents off the bases as a middle infielder/outfielder, he led his team with the highest on-base percentage (.441) as well as having the most extra base hits. Randles also hit for the highest batting average with a .312 and recorded the fewest amount of strikeouts on the team. He worked with the Tallmadge Little League Youth Clinic for two years.
In the classroom, Randles was awarded the honor of Distinguished Scholar. He was involved in DECA for one year and was a member of Business Capstone as a senior.
"Tyler is a very skilled athlete and a student of the game," said Josh Jarvis, Head Baseball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "He always competes at a high level, and is not an easy out. He's going to come right in and strengthen the middle of our infield and our batting lineup. He will also be a great addition to our campus community. We look forward to his leadership on and off the field, as he strives to make everyone around him even better."
Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
