Wrestlers Earn 2-2 Record In Golden Eagles Quad

The Kent State Tuscarawas wrestling team hosted the first-ever Golden Eagles Duals on Saturday and split their four matches on the afternoon. Grand Valley State University swept all four matches they competed in for the day, while Niagara County CC was 2-1, Kent State Tusc 2-2, Slippery Rock 1-3 and Mercyhurst NE 0-3.

The Navy and Gold started off the day with a 34-17 win over Mecyhurst and avenged an opening season loss to the Saints at the Kent State Duals in Kent, Ohio.

In round two on the day, the Golden Eagles lost 43-12 to Niagara CCC. They also dropped a 50-12 decision to powerful Grand Valley State in the third round, but bounced back to knock off Slippery Rock in their final match of the day 34-24.

For the Golden Eagles Lane Householder was undefeated at 4-0, winning with four pins on the afternoon wrestling in the 149lb. weight class, while Mason Contini finished at 3-1 in the 189lb. division with two pins and Austin Bailey was 3-1 at 141lbs. with two pins as well. Elijah Nash, Ray Velez and Collin Mancuso were are 2-2 on the afternoon.

On Saturday, January 19, 2019, the Golden Eagles host a tri match versus West Virginia Tech and the University of Akron at 12 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door and KSU students get in free of charge.
