Kent State Tuscarawas Basketball Falls to Mount Vernon Nazarene in Season Opener

Mount Vernon, OH – October 29, 2025

The Kent State University at Tuscarawas men's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season with a 125–75 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Wednesday night.

The Golden Eagles trailed 67–44 at halftime and were outscored 58–31 in the second half. Brody Moreland and Avery Andrejcik led Kent State Tuscarawas with 9 points each, while Caleb Shilling, Ethan Bower, Tanner Norman, and Jaxon Robb all added 8 points. Sambujang Mbaye recorded a team-high 8 rebounds.

Kent State Tuscarawas shot 29-of-72 (40%) from the field, 10-of-33 (30%) from three-point range, and 7-of-9 (78%) from the free-throw line. The Golden Eagles finished with 42 rebounds, 10 assists, and 75 total points.

With the loss, Kent State Tuscarawas moves to 0–1 on the season and are set to play at Defiance College on November 1, 2025 at 5:00 PM.
